Squad Launches Buy a Brick Campaign

Our Buy-A-Brick program allows you to support the Squad and also own a piece of Summit history. Commemorative bricks are available in 3 sizes and will be engraved with text chosen by each supporter. A logo or graphic of the donor’s choosing may also be included. Each brick will installed in the walkway outside the main entrance to our new headquarters at 1000 Summit Ave.

Squad Gets Visit from Congressman Lance

Congressman Leonard Lance recently paid a visit to the new headquarters of the Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad.

Squad Elects New Leadership

The Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad begins 2016 with a newly reorganized Board of Trustees and Officers that include some new members as well as some familiar faces.

Mike D’Ecclessis, a volunteer for nearly 40 years who served as President in once in the 1980s and for 2 years in the early 90s returns for a 3rd tour of duty in that position.  John Buscaino is the new Vice President.  Steve Mortenson is the new Corresponding Secretary while Ken Herr and Chris Raymond will remain in their roles as Treasurer and Recording Secretary, respectively.

'Tis the Season... for Ambulance Calls!

It’s not uncommon for members of the Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad to see an increase in calls during major holidays or during the holiday season between Thanksgiving and New Year.  That was certainly true last weekend when squad volunteers answered 22 emergency calls between Saturday morning and Monday evening.

Summit Squad Responds to Elizabeth Explosion

Members of the Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad were among the many mutual aid resources to respond to the scene of a natural gas explosion at an Elizabeth home on Wednesday.

Summit EMS is the New Jersey Squad of the Year!

The Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad was selected as the EMS Squad of the Year by the EMS Council of New Jersey.  The annual award honors the Emergency Medical Services agency that best demonstrates its contribution to the development and growth of quality EMS care within their community and was presented to members of the Summit EMS unit during the NJ EMS Council annual symposium held in Parsippany last week.

Squad Volunteers Travel with Stokes Team

For more than 40 years, the Stokes Outdoor Experience Program, or "Stokes" as it is commonly known, has marked the rite of passage for 6th graders starting their first year at Summit’s Lawton C. Johnson Middle School.

For the past four years, two EMTs from the Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad have traveled with an ambulance to provide medical coverage for the event.  Those 2 volunteers have been Linda Wolf and Greg Vartan.
