The Springfield Council #5560 of the Knights of Columbus recently awarded grants to the volunteer EMS agencies of Summit and Springfield.

According to Grand Knight Chris Tarashuk, the membership wanted to support both squads since the Knights property sits on the border of the two towns. The building is in Springfield Township while the driveway is in the City of Summit.

Tarashuk and Deputy Grand Knight Albert Hoesly presented checks for $1.000 each to President Liz Fritzen of the Springfield Volunteer First Aid Squad and President John Buscaino and Vice President Bob Flanagan of the Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad.

The all-volunteer First Aid Squad is always looking for new members to join its ranks. All needed training, uniforms and equipment is provided. For information, please call 908-277-9479 or click HERE..
