Three members of the Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad’s Wednesday Day Crew used their EMT skills to successfully revive a patient in cardiac arrest earlier this month. The crew used their cardiac defibrillator, delivered one shock and restored the patient’s heartbeat. The squad learned last week that the patient has been discharged from the hospital and returned to their normal life.

Squad volunteers Richard Raymond, Patty Herzog, Mel Harari were awarded the “CPR Save” pin by Squad Captain Kari Phair.

The First Aid Squad reminds all that early treatment provides the best chance for survival following any serious medical emergency. It’s best to call 9-1-1 at the first signs of a heart attack, stroke breathing difficulty or other acute medical emergency.
