Squad Volunteers Locate Missing Child

Fri, 2018-06-15 16:00 -- John Staunton

The Summit First Aid Squad received a request from Summit Police to assist with a search for a missing child.  The on-duty crew responded to the area with an ambulance and first responder truck. As is the case with all emergency dispatches, a text message was sent to our members.  Two off-duty members, Josie Roberts and Tara Mireskandari live in the neighborhood where the incident was reported and offered to help.  Tara picked up Josie at her home and the 2 were assigned to search in a different direction from where other units we looking. The 2 quickly spotted a child matching the description and after he confirmed his name, they contacted the Police, remaining with the child until the Police and a Summit EMS vehicle arrived along with the child's mother.

Last month Miss Roberts received an Excellence in EMS award from Overlook Medical Center in recognition for her contributions to the Squad.

The all-volunteer First Aid Squad is always looking for new members to join its ranks. All needed training, uniforms and equipment is provided.  For information, please call 908-277-9479, or click HERE.
