An early morning fire at 125 Summit Ave dispalced all living in the building The fast moving blaze drove several residents to escape out of rear windiows.  15 Summit EMS volunteers responded with 3 ambulances, a first responder/command truck and rehab trailer.  Due to the extreme cold, a Medical Ambulance Bus was also requested from Elizabeth and another from Somerville.  The first arriving ambulance crew treated and transported 2 of those residents to Overlook Medical Center with non-lifre thretaning injuries and then returned to the scene to assist with firefighter rehab.  The extreme cold made the job more difficult for all responders.Squad members also provided assistance to evacuees who were offeerd shelter and breakfast  in the nearby Committed Pig restuarant and remained on that detail after the Red Cross arrived.

The all-volunteer First Aid Squad is always looking for new members to join its ranks. All needed training, uniforms and equipment is provided.  For information, please call 908-277-9479, or click HERE.
