Squad Members Honored for Efforts at 5-Alarm Fire

At the April 3 Common Council meeting, Summit Fire Chief Eric Evers bestowed the "Chief's Award" upon 15 members of the SUmmit Volunter First Aid Squad who respnded to the 5-alarm apartment building fire in the early morning hours of December 31.2017.  Despite temperatures well below freezing, volunteers treated and transported 2 building resident who were injured jumping from an upper floor, helped set up an aid station in the neraby Committed Pig Restaurant for 12 displaced families, and set up an on scene rehab area for the many firefighteters braving the cold to fight the fire.
